The Meekster has Arrived!

Meeko has arrived safe and sound from his birth state of Missouri!  Due to requests I thought I would share a bit about where Meeko came from and what kind of dog he is.  Meeko is a whippet which is a medium size sighthound (the smallest is the italian greyhound, then the medium is a whippet, and the large size is a greyhound).  We did months of research to find the most reputable breeder with puppies with the desirable coat coloring we wanted.  We knew we wanted blue fawn and preferred brindled (kind of like tiger striped) if possible which is exactly what Meeko is!  We were in touch with his breeder who breeds whippets to supplement their general dog rescue program which was an added selling point to us seeing we adopted Levi from a shelter.  We were in weekly conversation via email with the breeders and received delightful pictures and details on what Meeko and his litter were up to from their vet exams, to personality, to tips for the future each and every week until he came home!  We were more than happy with who we chose to adopt through thus far and would recommend them to anyone looking for a whippet puppy.

Meeko started off by his breeder driving him from Missouri, to Tulsa, OK where he boarded his first plane to Houston, TX and then switched planes and flew North all the way here to Cleveland, OH.  My little sister Mary Grace came along with Brian and I to greet Meeko at the airport shipping center.  He arrived in a clean cage rearing to go!  He was not too excited about the cold wet weather he was greeted with in Cleveland, but this little guy is going to adapt quickly to his new home :)  He was wearing a cute sweater so he was nice and toasty during his travels.

Heading home from the airport!

He has eaten several meals since coming home which we were most worried about.  He is getting a head start on potty training which we are going at with full force.  All he seems to really want to do is just cuddle up in our arms.  When we put him on the floor he will start to adventure around.  We put up baby gates to keep him a bit contained and within eyes view.  He is 10 weeks old and starting to chew so his nyla puppy bones are being put to great use already!  His new brother Levi is not too sure of this new baby coming to town.  We are making headway with the two but Levi is not use to having to share mom and dad.  I am sure within the next couple of days the two will become best buds!  Without further ado here is a glimpse of Meeko!!!!
