Mary had her first volleyball game. She is in 4th grade this year so they are able to start playing the sports at her school.
She is the serving queen! When it comes to 4th grade girls only about 30% of the time I'd say the volleyball actually gets served over the net, the other 70% don't. Of the 30% that do make it over the net it is close to never that it makes its way back. Normally the girls will watch the ball come over, watch it fall, then look at each other like um what just happened?!?!
Mary surprised us all and most her serves went over the net! Surprised since we don't ever really play volleyball and I've never seen her serve before. This game was only after two practices so there is hope by the end of the season there will be much improvement. Let's just say rally scoring is a wonderful thing with this age group!
One of her many serves that went over!
The game was a close nail biter in the 3rd game. They won the first and we won the second so it was up to the few girls. Several choked under the pressure, including many of the girls that are known to be powerful servers. Sure enough Mary comes up to serve and hits the winning point to win the game! Here it is in all its glory :)
The girls all ran around her and had this cute victory moment!
The post game champs!
We also celebrated GT's 2nd birthday.
This birthday boy in his conductor hat!
His cake his great grandma made! Skewers were brought in for reinforcement after a rough car ride left it split in half but it of course still tasted all the same!
Mommy and birthday boy!

He loved the gift we got him! This bouncy turtle.
It was quickly stolen as he opened up his other gifts.
This was the biggest hit that my parents had gotten him. He just loved it and it did create some conflicts with sharing :)
He brought this book right to grandpa and wanted to be read to.
Even Brian gave it a try! It has a weight capacity of up to 401 lbs. so able to be enjoyed by adults and children the same :)
There was even a Thomas vs. the turtle bumping war!
